Accurate Diagnosis by Dental CT

The nerves and blood vessels at the roots of teeth have a very complex shape, and an accurate diagnosis is necessary before an accurate treatment can be performed. In our clinic, we have introduced dental CT that can analyze the shape of teeth and bones with precise 3D images, and we also use it for diagnosis of root canal treatment. Since the area affected by dental caries can be accurately identified, the success rate of treatment can be significantly improved without unnecessary cutting of teeth.

Precise Treatment With a Microscope, Magnifying Glass, etc.

It is very difficult to visually confirm and remove complicated, intricate nerves and blood vessels. For this reason, our clinic incorporates a microscope and magnifying glass into the treatment to check the details of the affected area. By using it in combination with dental CT, the information inside the root canal can be obtained accurately, so more reliable root canal treatment can be performed.

Safe Treatment With a Rubber Dam

Saliva, which contains water and bacteria, can interfere with root canal treatment. In order to prevent this and perform treatment smoothly, we are conducting “rubber dam moisture prevention” at our clinic. Rubber dam moisture prevention is a procedure to put a thin rubber sheet around the teeth during treatment to prevent saliva from entering the root canal. The teeth to be treated are effectively “isolated” and treated in a cleaner and safer condition.

Nickel-Titanium File That Reliably Removes Contaminated Tissue

Nerve and blood vessels in the root canal are removed using a device called “nickel-titanium file.” Compared to the stainless steel file that is often used in the past, it has higher elasticity and is very flexible. It also precisely penetrates into the complicatedly shaped nerve canal to remove bacteria and prevent disease progression.

Reliable Root Canal Filling with MTA Cement

MTA cement is a dental cement developed in the United States in 1993 and is characterized by excellent bactericidal action and hardness. Since 1998, it has been used overseas when there is a hole in the dentin of the root due to dental caries or dental treatment, re treatment is repeated, or when the root canal has become thick due to severe progress of tooth decay. Also, repeated treatment may thin the teeth and leave holes. Bacteria may enter through the punctured area, causing swelling of the gums or pus. By filling the holes with MTA cement, you can prevent bacteria from entering and extend the life of your teeth.

Initial Root Canal Treatment

This is a root canal treatment when the nerves in the root canal are infected, or the nerves die due to the progress of caries. The dentin that is affected by caries is removed, and contaminated nerves are removed (myelination) and washed. With the nerve canal completely clean, the drug is filled without any gaps to prevent bacterial invasion and disease spread. Root canal treatment has the highest success rate at the first treatment, so receiving appropriate treatment at this stage will prolong the life of the tooth.

Re-Root Canal Treatment

This is a second or subsequent root canal treatment when the initial treatment has some reason, and the disease cannot be stopped. Remove the cover and the base, and remove the medicine filled in the first treatment. After that, disinfect and remove the bait bacteria left in the roots to reduce the number of bait bacteria in the tube. It can take a long time, several hours, to remove the base without damaging your teeth or to remove the medicine filled in the root canal. In addition, the success rate of the treatment is about 2/3, which is lower than that of the first root canal treatment.

Surgical Root Canal Treatment (Toot Excision)

If pus accumulates at the tip of the tooth root, normal root canal treatment alone may not cure it. At this time, the treatment to remove the tissue containing the lesion and part of the tip of the root is called “root ablation.” Some cases that require root ablation include:
